The Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens' Association

The Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association (CCECA) is a non-profit social service organization located in the heart of downtown Calgary. It has been serving Chinese older adults citywide since 1985. It provides a great variety of services and programs including social services, community support, health service, etc. Its current membership exceeds 2,000.

This program, in partnership with Alberta Health Services is a supportive program for people aged 18 or older. It includes the following:

Disease-Specific and General Education Classes

Classes are offered in different  formats, and different lengths of time depending on the topic. Classes are taught by a variety of health-care providers in Cantonese or Mandarin. Classes are free of charge.

  • Hypertension
  • Cholesterol
  • Chronic Lung Disease
  • Kidney Basics
  • Tobacco Cessation
  • Osteoporosis

 

Life Styles “Better Choices, Better Health”

Self-Management Workshop Classes are offered once a week for 6 weeks, for 2½ hours per class.

People with chronic conditions meet together to learn and to practice skills needed to live well.

Classes are led by trained leaders who also have long-term chronic health conditions.

This workshop is free of charge.

 

Registered Dietitian Consultation Service

Registered Dietitian provides one on one consultation on healthy eating.  Appointment is required.
